The Museum is situated near the D K Hospital in Raipur. It was established in 1875 by Raja Mahant Ghasidas of Rajnandgaon. In 1953, it was renovated and restored by Queen Jyoti Devi and her son Digvijay Das. Preservation of different types of objects of archaeology, anthropology, and natural history is done here. Miscellaneous elements are housed in it.
It also contains arts, crafts, and paintings.The museum has two floors featuring five galleries and features different sections. The museum also displays crafts, jewellery, paintings and terracotta belonging to tribal culture. It also houses an interesting library. It is spread on almost two hectares of land, it is one of the finest museums in Chhattisgarh. The priceless collections at the museum include inscriptions, weapons, ancient coins, kalachuri sculptures, carvings, Buddhist bronzes, and items like clothes and ornaments that were being used by the different tribes of Chhattisgarh.It is listed amongst the leading museums in central India.
The Civic Centre is the shopping hub of Bhilai, featuring a number of social activities and amusements. Initially built with two lines of stores and shops, fashioned in an L pattern, this shopping centre has undergone a number of changes with the passage of time.
