Bhairamgarh Wildlife Sanctuary
It is situated at 139 kms from Jagdalpur. The wild buffalo is the prime attraction at Bhairamgarh Sanctuary. A wildlife tour to the place is very rewarding because of the unique qualities which are indeginious to Chattisgarh. The forests covers the most of the total land area of the country which is nearly 44%. A significant part of the total wildlife of the country is in Chattisgarh. There are rare species of animals and plants. The Hill Hynas, tigers and leopards are also found but in less number. Chinkaras, the Indian Gazelle and Chital can also be easily sighted.
At Sanctuary the Nilgai, Sambar, Gaur, Barking Deer, Sloth Bear, Wild Boar, Jackel and Striped Hyna can also be found. These species can be sighted from different parts of the santuary. This sanctuary offers the best place to the bird watchers as well. The important species found are Darters, Wood Peckers, Peacocks, Jungle Fowls, Green Pigeons, Quails, Parrots and Stocks. It also makes the artificial arrangements so that the migratory birds can visit the place. It is an enchanting place for the tourists to visit. The best time to visit the sanctuary is from November to June.
